LASALLIAN SPIRITUALITY

  • Lasallian Spirituality Today

Lasallian spirituality is about educators integrating their faith into their work. It is rooted in the Catholic faith and the life of St. John Baptist de La Salle. It emphasises the importance of faith, zeal, and community. Educators are encouraged to reflect on their experiences and see God’s presence in their work. Lasallian schools provide a welcoming environment that respects all religions.

  • Situating Lasallian Spirituality

This presentation explores the core of Lasallian spirituality and its practical application in education, especially as outlined in the "Conduct of the Christian Schools." It emphasises that Lasallian educators should integrate their faith into their teaching, fostering a deep respect for the dignity of each student, particularly those marginalised by society. The teacher's spirituality is crucial in creating a nurturing learning environment where both teachers and students grow in faith and holiness. The presentation also situates Lasallian spirituality in the context of 17th-century France, highlighting its relevance to modern-day challenges. It delves into key themes like God's presence, prayer, catechism, and the influence of the French School of spirituality, emphasising the Incarnation and human goodness. Finally, it reflects on the profound meaning of "Live Jesus in our hearts," connecting it to community, mission, and the enduring presence of Jesus in Lasallian education.

  • Non-Catholic Lasallians' Experiences in Living Out the Lasallian Values.

This journal article explored how non-Catholic Lasallians experience and live out the Lasallian values of faith, service, and communion. It involved six participants from De La Salle University Dasmariñas, including students, faculty, and staff.

The study used a phenomenological approach, guided by the Lasallian Philosophy of Education, to analyse their experiences. The findings highlighted the importance of prayer, the integration of faith and service, and the celebration of unity in diversity within the Lasallian community. The study concludes that Christian education and Lasallian formation can effectively promote Lasallian spirituality and mission, even among those from different faith backgrounds.
